Dr Trevor Borchers
M.B.ChB (UCT), FCS Urology (SA)
Dr Trevor Borchers is South African born and bred. After schooling at Queens College and Rondebosch Boys’ High School, he attended the Air Force Gymnasium before obtaining his M.B.,ChB. from the University of Cape Town in 1969. Houseman and SHO jobs followed at Groote Schuur and Red Cross hospitals in Cape Town, before working in General Surgery at the Kent and Canterbury Hospital, UK. Specialist urology training 1973-1978 at Groote Schuur.
Dr Borchers was a full time consultant urologist at Groote Schuur Hospital between 1979 and 2016 and he has also been a longstanding consulting urologist to Victoria and False Bay Hospitals. Private Practice in Cape Town’s Southern Suburbs commenced in 1979 as Dr TM Borchers and Partners.
Dr Borchers has served the urological community with distinction on the Executive Committee South African Urological Association for 12 years until 2010, five of them as President. He was awarded the Distinguished Surgeon Award from the University of Cape Town in 2003.
He is married to Margaret French, and was blessed with four wonderful children. He is a keen sportsman with four Comrades and eight Two Oceans under his belt, but currently enjoys Thursday afternoon tennis, when he is not travelling in the great outdoors.
