Dr Prenevin Govender was born in Port Elizabeth. He schooled at St Georges Preparatory School and Theodor Herzl High School, where he matriculated first in his class. He completed his MBChB at the University of Cape Town in 2001. He did his postgraduate training at the University of Cape Town and obtained his Fellowship of the College of Urologists in May 2009. He graduated with distinction for a Masters in Medicine from the University of Cape Town in 2010.
His special interests include laparoscopic and endoscopic urological surgery, Prostate Brachytherapy, Sacral neuromodulation (Interstim), intravesical Botox and other urinary incontinence surgery. He is actively involved in all Urodynamic studies.
His super-speciality qualifications include a Diploma in Laparoscopic Surgery from the University of Strasbourg in France as well as a mini-fellowship in Endourology at the Muljibhai Patel Urological Hospital in Gujarat, India. He has completed the European Society for Radiotherapy and Oncology teaching course on Brachytherapy in Prostate Cancer in Avignon, France. He has also completed the Fundamental training in Pelvic Floor Neuromodulation in Antwerp, Belgium, as well as the ECMT Pelvic Floor Neuromodulation Advanced training program in Aarhus University Hospital in Denmark.

He consults full-time at Life Kingsbury Hospital in Claremont. He is also does pro bono work when needed as a consultant urologist at Victoria Hospital in Wynberg.
He is an avid cyclist, runner and golfer. He is happily married, with two children.
